The cobbler
A cobbler was working in the back of his workshop when a nun walked inside his store. The nun, who was given some money to spend by her parents, looked around at the displays of all the fancy shoes. No one bothered her and she took her time. After a while, the cobbler who knew she was there, came out.
“May I help you?” asked the Cobbler
“Can you attend a sister from the Order of Saint Mary,” asked the woman.
“Nuns don’t usually shop here,” said the Cobbler. “Making shoes for the publicans is how I make my money. ”
“Don’t you have anything for a nun?” asked the woman.
The man looked at her for a moment. “Will you sit down for me?”
The nun sat down and cobbler measured her feet in the old fashion style.
“I have a special shoe that I make just for nuns. It is very comfortable and twice as nice as anything you are used to.”
“Alls I have is this,” said nun the handing the cobbler her envelope a gift to her for her birthday.
The cobbler opened up the envelope and it had 20.00. U.S,
“Is it enough?” she asked
“It is more than enough,” said the Cobbler
“Then give me two pairs,” said the Nun, “I will pay you the rest when I pick up my shoes.”
And so the cobbler went to work on the Nun’s shoes. When he was finished, she came and picked them up. She tried on a pair.
“These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn,” she said.
The nun paid for her shoes, the first shoes she had bought since becoming a nun. In her order everything was free.
After she left a man came to speak to the Cobbler. They talked about walking shoes for a while and settled on a price for 1000 pairs of walking shoes. the cobbler had been chosen to be the next supplier of shoes for various religious orders,
To nuns, priests and those interested
The world is large. I have to be involved in many things for the protection of children, women and men. I will do it without drinking or without throwing wild parties.
